Lent; day 12

February 28, 2010

Today marks the beginning of Lent 2 in the church calendar.
I’m listening to Edward Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius, which uses text written by Cardinal Newman.
Revelation 20:11 – 21:8

I still seem unable to reflect on, or even write anything about what I’ve read or am listening to.

But giving up Facebook seems to be going well now. I’m not stalking certain people so much 😉

Happy times are coming my way (according to Cat White)

Lent; days 7 – 11

February 27, 2010

Day 7
Sergi Prokofiev – Peter and the Wolf
‘The wolf shall live with the lamb and a little child shall lead them’
Isaiah 11:6-9 and Romans 8:18-23

Day 8
Gustav Holst – The Planets
‘In Him all things in heaven and on earth were created’
Colossians 1:11-20 and Acts 17

Day 9
Paul Dukas – The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
‘Against the Cosmic Forces of Darkness’
Ephesians 6:10-19 and Acts 8:4-24
I’ve just had much fun colouring in a picture of the Armour of God, I’m such a big kid, really.

Day 10
Benjamin Britten – The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra
‘All the people’s, Nations, and languages fell down and worshipped’
Daniel 3:4-7 and Philippians 3:8-17

Day 11
John Cage – 4’33”
‘There was silence in Heaven for about half an hour’
Revelation 8:1-5 and 1 Kings 19:9-18

Silence. Nothingness. This resonates so much with the week I’m having.

[Apologies for the lack of reflections on my journey this week, it’s been a tough one.]

Wow, I did actually break my new Guiding Centenary Pen with my repetitive behaviors this week. Hmm.

I’ve been unable to find the words since Tuesday.

February 27, 2010

This week has been tough, to put it mildly.

On Tuesday, I got up went to breakfast, where I proceeded to put my sleeve in my Marmite on toast. Gutted. Fortunately, I discovered it comes out with just cold water, which was a relief! I went to Formation group at 9. But I wasn’t feeling so good, so went back to bed until lunchtime, as being Laing Lecture day, chapel wasn’t until the afternoon.

You’d have thought that sleep is a good thing, wouldn’t you? Well for me it has the ability to make things worse. So much worse.

And, it turns out I still cannot verbalise anything from the last week.

Sorry about that.

Any advice for removing a Marmite stain from my fairly new pink iScout hoodie after an unfortunate breakfast time error?
